MOBO award winning hip-hop artist Kingslee ‘Akala’ Daley will be visiting Cardiff University to give a talk on

‘Hip Hop, Power and Resistance'

Thursday 5th December, 5.00pm – 6:30pm,

Council Chamber, Glamorgan Building

King Edward VII Avenue, Cardiff, CF10 3WT

Akala will be visiting Cardiff to perform his fourth studio album, ‘The Thieves Banquet’ at The Moon Club on the evening of the 5th December, and beforehand will be sharing his political thoughts with an audience at Cardiff University.

Since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album ‘It’s Not A Rumour’ in 2005, Akala, has become one of Britain’s most revered and respected MCs. Akala has been heralded as ‘one of the very few UK spokespeople for credible hip hop’, while his music is lauded for being ‘Impassioned and articulate’. His reputation for stellar live performances has seen him grace stages across the globe, as well as tour support for a variety of artists including Jay Z, Nas & Damien Marley and M.I.A. When not wearing his hat as Akala the rapper, writer and producer, Kingslee Daley is busy running not only his independently founded and funded label Illa State Records, but also Artistic Director of The Hip-hop Shakespeare Company, a music theatre production company specialising in delivering education programmes, live music events and music theatre productions.
