Online fundraising has moved on from running a good website and emailing your supporters. Your supporters, members, alumni and donors are now spending their time at other popular sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. They are getting used to publishing their own content online - photos, videos, blog posts. So, you need to follow your donors.
Howard Lake shows you how charities and voluntary organisations are taking advantage of this change and the tools available. Focusing on the fundraising rather than the technology, this half-day course will give you a good understanding of how you can use these popular websites and tools to support and extend your fundraising.
The afternoon course will cover the how to make the most for fundraising from:
- user generated content
- RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
- bookmarking and tagging
- social networks (like Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and Twitter)
The course will also help you think about some of the changes and opportunities that are coming, such as mobile, social commerce, transparency, curation, location, and instant search.
The emphasis, as with all our courses, is practical advice and ideas that are relevant to your organisation and which you can implement quickly and usually at very low or no cost.
Delegates are invited to bring their laptops with them to use the venue's free wi-fi, but laptops are certainly not essential.

"Having decided that the NCPTA needed to utilise digital media to the full, we went onto open a Twitter account. The question was, what do we do next? The Fundraising with Twitter course, was a fast and furious two hours, packed with practical hints and tips, to guide you through the maze of things to consider. I came away more enlightened, with a clear idea of how to take our communication with our supporters to another level".
