How to navigate the London startup scene
Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (BST)
London, United Kingdom
Years of experience condensed into a one-hour lowdown.
If you're launching a startup in London, there are so many critical resources and people who can help you, yet you probably don't know about them. It takes time to get to know your way around the startup space, but consider this an introductory crash course into the incubators, VCs, events, people, meetups, blogs, and companies you should be aware of. We aim to make this one of the most useful hours you'll ever spend, condensing years of experience into a single info-packed session. Learn about General Assembly, White Bear Yard, Google Campus, Seedcamp, and more.
Rob Fitzpatrick is a great friend of Escape the City. He's successfully bankrupted 3 startups, raised funding in both Silicon Valley and London, and built products used globally by companies like Sony and MTV. He's a YCombinator alumni, mentors at Seedcamp and UCL, and has given talks & workshops around Europe about getting started as a new founder, like this awesome talk below:
The focus will be on sharing relevant, insightful, practical tips for Escaping the City. Please join us:
We will be meeting at Adam Street Members Club – on the evening of 8th August.
The bar will open at 19.00 and the talk will start at 19.30 and go on for about an hour. Please come early to join us for a drink and a chat.
Send me your questions (firstname.lastname@example.org) before August 1st and we can make sure they're covered on the evening.

When & Where
Escape the City - The Escape School
The Escape School is Escape the City's events arm.
We put on courses, events and meetups aimed at educating and empowering corporate professionals for alternative career paths, entrepreneurialism and adventure.
There is so much rubbish career and startup advice out there. So many unhelpful myths. We are building the Escape School to teach what we wish we’d learnt back in 2009 when we were stuck… sitting glumly on the Tube wondering how on earth to get out.
If Escape the City is a community that helps corporate professionals ‘do something different’ then the Escape School is where we engage closely with you (in the real world). It has been founded with one single objective: to help you grapple with that huge, scary, unmanageable yet exciting question: “What Next?"
