How to Write a Winning Funding Bid, Tender or Proposal

Overview

Bolton Council presents its fifth annual programme to support Bolton-based businesses, social enterprises and charities from the arts and creative industries sector, to survive and develop during these difficult economic times.
 
Our programme for 2014 includes free workshops and a series of one-to-one surgery days, details of which can be found in 'Other Events' below.

This workshop will help you to improve your skills in writing bids, tenders and other proposals. 


Objectives

The workshop will enable you to:

  • Identify grants, loans and tendering opportunities for arts and creative industries
  • Define your project
  • Define your aims, objectives, outputs and outcomes
  • Build and demonstrate your evidence of need
  • Develop collaborations / partnerships to strengthen your proposal
  • Demonstrate your track record
  • Ensure you have effective monitoring, evaluation and management arrangements
  • Develop effective publicity, marketing & engagement activities

Trainer Profiles

Mari Martin-Matthews, Managing Director, MMM Funding Solutions Ltd

Mari specialises in supporting organisations to develop a robust business case for support from grant funders, public bodies / commissioners and in supporting organisations to develop projects, programmes and organisational capacity. 
 
Mari has 15 years’ experience of securing and managing grant funding at a senior level (working as the Head of Strategic Resources at Bolton Council) and has secured over £100m in grants over the past ten years from a range of sources, with close to a 100% success rate. 
 
Mari has considerable experience of working with the public, private and voluntary and community sectors and her experience gives her a unique understanding of what funders, lenders and commissioners expect.
 

Helen Tomlinson, Development Co-ordinator, Bolton CVS

Helen has over 11 years experience of providing funding and development support to the voluntary and community sector in Bolton. She has worked with a wide range of organisations from small grassroots community groups to large charities and social enterprises working across a variety of issues and beneficiary groups including health, children and young people, arts, environmental, BME and refugee organisations. Helen has considerable experience of providing guidance on governance and organisational development issues in the voluntary sector as well as advising on appropriate sources of funding and the planning and development of funding bids.

This workshop is targeted at organisations based in Bolton. The workshop will help you to develop a robust business case in order to secure grant funding; secure a loan or investment; sell products or services to the public/private sectors; and respond to tendering opportunities.
