This morning’s talk is with award-winning contemporary reportage photographer and friend of the HUB Toby Smith. Toby has travelled the world reporting on environmental issues such as the illegal logging of Malagasi National Parks, documenting India’s explosive growth in the Energy Sector from coal expansion to wind power and has photographed all of the UK’s power stations by night.
Toby uses contemporary photography techniques, his ability to get into places others wouldn’t dare go and a passion for the preservation of our planet to capture beautiful and often startling imagery. You will get a chance to hear about some of his missions across the globe, the problems he has faced and see a selection of his images.
Toby Smith is represented by Reportage by Getty Images and has been published in National Geographic, Sunday Times, Guardian, New York Times, Sky News and has exhibited at the Barbican. He is a charismatic storyteller and is not a member at the HUB currently but would be interested to hear your stories in around the issues his work presents.
Come connect, learn, share and have a croissant. All welcome.
A little bit about Hub Breakfast talks…
Like a mini-TED, our bi-weekly breakfast event is open to all including non-HUB members and it’s free, so a great way for non-members to check out HUB Westminster. You can hear about the most interesting and awe-inspiring projects in our community and beyond; from collaborative consumption and recycled food waste to mobile innovations in sub-Saharan Africa and Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation.
When & Where
Impact Hub Westminster
Impact Hub Westminster is one of the largest of a global network of locally owned collaborative working spaces of over 11,000+ members and makers in 70+ locations.
Our primary aim is to support organisations with positive social and environmental impact at the heart of their missions. We provide flexible access to workspace and curate a supportive, collaborative environment for these impact makers.
We believe early stage organisations struggle to survive in isolation. Our environment and services are designed to incubate the growth and sustainable positive impact of our members through collaboration and support.
To further support our community we host a continuous flow of brilliant relevant events and programmes providing a stream of learning and networking opportunities for our members.
