Organised by

Helen Owen Marketing Enterprises (HOME) is a not-for-profit marketing company that seeks to help young people and those that have been unemployed for a long period of time to engage in their local community by helping local community groups, agencies and charities with their marketing.

Benefactors of HOME:

  • Unemployed Individuals - are given the opportunity to receive free hands-on experience and training in new technologies such as website creation, IT, communications, presentation software, social media, project management, marketing etc., People are given the opportunity to manage their own projects and liaise with clients on an individual basis.  By learning these skills on the latest equipment and software they are often at an advantageous position when job-seeking as they are up-to-date with latest technologies. By working as part of a team they are given the opportunity to gain work experience in a friendly atmosphere.

  • Individuals, Local Community Groups, Agencies, Charities & Organisations – are now able to receive low-cost marketing for their services, who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to access good quality marketing due to budget restrictions.  This is how we have helped them:

  • Individuals – those people wishing to run their own business or group (instead of claiming benefits) are given the opportunity to create a low-cost website which includes the ability for ecommerce so they can earn an income from it. We also help with networking to the local community as this encourages the local economy.
  • Local Community Groups – those groups just starting off are given the advantage to create low-cost websites and training in social media so they can engage with others from the local community.
  • Agencies & Charities – those groups that are providing a service that benefits the local community are able to create low-cost websites and training is given so they can update it themselves without costing a lot of money! People in the community can then know what services are available.
  • Organisations – local businesses are given the opportunity to receive low-cost marketing services from a creative team of volunteers. These volunteers are then accessing local business who are often approached first when a job opportunity arises.

By linking these benefactors together people in our community can find out about services on offer in order to make Eastbourne a better place to live and work. Our volunteers also receive experience first-hand of working in this creative field.

HOME have a small office in the ROC Advice Centre in Seaside Road, Eastbourne. By paying a commercial rent we are helping the advice centre to sustain itself – which means that people requiring advice on debt, benefits, counselling and job-searches can continue to receive these services for free.

Any other money that is brought into the company goes towards paying our bills such as volunteer expenses, new equipment for our volunteers and training etc.
