We are delighted to welcome Angeline Welsh a Barrister from Matrix International, to speak at the first of our events in a series the University of Glasgow School Of Law will host on the topic of 'International Law as a Profession'. This series will will give students an opportunity to hear from practitioners working in different fields of international law, to learn about potential careers in the field, and to meet with individuals and organisations that could be relevant to such careers.
Angeline specialises in international arbitration (commercial and investment treaty) and public law. She has acted as counsel on complex arbitrations conducted under a wide range of institutional rules, across sectors as diverse as energy, telecoms, construction and finance and in jurisdictions across the world. Angeline also sits as an arbitrator.
She is a co-chair of IBA Arb40 and a contributor to Russell on Arbitration. Angeline is a recommended individual for arbitration in Who’s Who Legal 2016 and has been consistently recognised as a leading individual for arbitration by the legal directories. Prior to joining Matrix, Angeline was counsel and solicitor advocate in the International Arbitration Group at Allen & Overy LLP, spending time in the London and Hong Kong offices and on secondment to the LCIA
She will talk about her career path, the necessary skills and experiences needed, her current roles and what relevance international law has in her day to day work.
The event is followed by a more informal reception giving students a chance to talk with Angeline on a 1 to 1 basis.
