Event Details

Event Overview:

A Level 1 Academy programme, the Introduction to Improvement course has been specifically designed to support colleagues wanting to gain an introduction to the fundamentals and concepts of quality improvement.

The programme invites staff to participate by identifying an improvement project to work on that is organisationally relevant and apply improvement theory into practice.

The course consists of three single days of face to face workshops and a celebration event. Completion of the programme will be certificated by AQuA, and delegates are required to work on a live project throughout the programme.

Who is this event aimed at?

Front line staff and operational leaders in member organisations wanting to gain an introduction to the fundamentals and concepts of quality improvement. Suitable for staff with basic knowledge of quality improvement tools or for experienced staff wanting to refresh knowledge and skills.

What will attendees learn at this event / workshop?

 The objectives of the training are for individuals:

  • To have an appreciation for the foundations of theory of quality improvement and the how this is relevant in the current NHS context
  • To provide delegates with tools, techniques and concepts which will help them:
    • Plan an improvement project
    • Engage people in an improvement project
    • Deliver an improvement project
    • Evaluate an improvement project
    • Sustain and spread an improvement project
  • To provide an opportunity for delegates practically apply the tools to an organisational relevant improvement project

Further information:

The course consists a mixture of three single days of face to face workshops. Completion of the programme will be certificated by AQuA, and delegates are required to work on a live project throughout the programme.

Modules

Module 1

Introduce delegates to the theory and context of quality improvement in the NHS, provide an understanding of how they can plan an improvement project and allow them to practically apply this to their own project.  

Module 2

Provide delegates with an understanding of how to engage people an improvement project, tools to use when delivering the project, methods for evaluating and assessing the impact of improvement project and allow them to practically apply these to their own project. 

Module 3

Provide delegates with a further understanding of how to evaluate their improvement project, an understanding of how to sustain and spread their improvement project and allow them to practically apply these to their own project.

This event is free to all AQuA member organisations. Attendance for non-members is charged at £390 per person. If you are unsure if you are a registered member, please click here. 

Final event arrangements are confirmed with the venue up to two weeks before the event. In order to ensure that places are not wasted please let us know at your earliest convenience if you are no longer able to attend.
