Description

Approach

All of our programming courses are taught with a hands-on approach, using a range of practical exercises to teach and enthuse our students. We teach students to develop apps from scratch, providing them with the knowledge and experiences to build upon afterwards.

In this 5 day course students will be introduced to the concept of programming and create an interactive iOS app.

Students are encouraged to bring their own media files to use in their project.

  • Introduction to the principles of Object Oriented Programming and Swift
  • Programming decisions and looping
  • What is iOS and OS X? Which devices are they for?
  • Tour of the Xcode development environment
  • App navigation from one screen to another and back
  • How to create a tab based app?
  • Adding image, label and button
  • UI design: resizing and repositioning objects, changing screen colour
  • Adding animation
  • Shake Gesture
  • Switch
  • Adding map showing current location

Tutor

The course is taught by Narges Berry, whose computing qualifications are matched by her passion to teach and inspire youngsters.

Narges has a BEng honours degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Birmingham, and an MSc in Computing Science from Imperial College London.

She has over 10 years of development experience, and in 2011 gained an MBA from INSEAD business school in France.

Duration

This course runs over 5 days from 1pm to 5pm.
