An extended course in Java Programming led by Java expert Prof Michael Kölling (University of Kent, Greenfoot, BlueJ). This course will cover the fundamentals of programming using Java as the example language. It is aimed at teachers who wish to develop their skills in programming and to give them the confidence to begin to use programming in their classrooms, either through environments such as Greenfoot and BlueJ or with native Java.
The course will follow standard undergraduate level course content and will be delivered via two face-to-face full day sessions and six 1 hour online sessions in between. To get the most out of the course a commitment to participate in all sessions is required. It is expected that assignments will be completed each week to ensure reinforcement of the material. This will be no more than 2 hours each week.
This course is certified by Computing at School and the BCS Academy.
