Jazz Steps Live at the Libraries: Sharp Little Bones feat. Tony Kofi - Worksop Library
Overview
Virtuosic quartet, featuring the multi-award winning Tony Kofi on saxophone, with a fresh, contemporary sound that’s an audio melting-pot of jazz, funk, blues, bop and electronica.
Within the music’s melodic and energetically rhythmic arrangements, there's freedom for expressive solos and exciting group interplay.
The band’s debut double album, ‘Volumes I & II’ released in 2023 by Ubuntu Music, received widespread critical acclaim, being widely played across BBC Radio and Jazz FM. Their UK tour was a sell-out and culminated in a headlining show at the London Jazz Festival.
“Simon Paterson is an exceedingly talented composer and bassist, whose style has evolved and matured into something original, yet connects with fans of all kinds of music, as well as the jazz faithful. His first release on our label has universal critical praise as well as national radio play”—Martin Hummel, Director, Ubuntu Management Group
Engaging, hugely varied, well-presented, characterised by élan and enthusiasm” JAZZWISE Magazine
"Passionate… superb… heartfelt" The Guardian
“The music and sound immediately felt unique, and the band’s performance got the crowd whooping. The audience demanded more… this night was a pleasure to behold” London Jazz News
