Jill Edwards short stand-up comedy courses are a practical, fun taste of her highly acclaimed and the original Brighton comedy course, at Brighton's Komedia (since 2005). Enjoy a fun taste of learning how to create, write and perform your own stand-up comedy. The end result is a brief (1 min) stand-up set, which you can choose to perform to your family/friends in Komedia's intimate Studio Bar venue.
Jill has taught her one-day stand-up comedy courses for the Brighton Comedy Festival and fof the BBC New Comedy Awards in Brighton and London.

1 Day Stand-Up Comedy Course Outline
The aim is to give participants a short fun whole experience of writing and performing their own brief (1 min max) stand-up comedy set.
Creative exercises/techniques to inspire and help generate your ideas and material;
A fun introduction to comedy writing, formats and straighforward joke writing;
Trying out the results in a friendly encouraging atmosphere to build a brief stand-up set;
Practical performance skills including microphone technique and conquering nerves.
The skills you'll acquire also apply to other areas of your life, writing, performing, presentations and public speaking.
Option to perform:Your one day comedy course concludes with a relaxed, informal short sharing/show. You can choose to perform your brief stand-up set on stage to your own invited audience of family and friends in Komedia's intimate Studio Bar venue. Doors (and bar) open for a 4:00pm start.
