Key UX Principles for eCommerce Sites

Thursday, 13 March
7:35 – 9:15 pm

Today, more and more retailers are moving their businesses to the digital sphere. In 2012 alone, global ecommerce sales figures reached almost one billion. With platforms readily available, it’s easier than ever to set up an online store—but there are a few key design principles that when utilised can help set your online business apart and achieve market success. In this 90-minute class, we’ll take a closer look at ecommerce and the essential UX tips around it.

  • The core rules and best practices for designing ecommerce sites
  • eCommerce website patterns–some of the most battle-hardened on the web
  • Best practice for designing checkout flows and getting users to buy your product
  • Different design approaches you can take to displaying products
  • The spectrum of different styles, from Amazon's mass production to high-end brands
  • How real-life stores influence buying decisions and tricks that can be borrowed.

This is a beginner’s class. If you’re a startup founder wanting a grounding in the ecommerce space, UX designer making a shift into consumer-facing sites, graphic designer wanting to design for the web, or front end developer wanting to beef up your UX knowledge, come along.
