Launch of the Sustainable Local Food Strategy Project. The first of a series of events that will involve stakeholders in forming a Food Partnership and developing a Strategy for sustainable food production and consumption in County Durham.
In the morning we have keynote speakers who will be both entertaining and informative:
Lord Curry of Kirkharle (Chair Commission on Future of Farming and Food (2002);Farmer)
Chris Shaw (Director of Health Improvement, Sheffield City Council)
Dr Charlie Clutterbuck (Hon. Research Fellow, Centre for Food Policy, City University)
Mary Clear (Incredible Edible Todmorden).
After a local food lunch, when you can visit the displays, there is a menu of short workshops to choose from, demonstrating some of the exciting local initiatives that are happening both here in the North East and from further afield.
You will also be invited to make suggestions about how what you hear and see at the event might be relevant to Durham.
Please note that spaces are limited for this event.
