Lowland Search Planner
This course provides a solid foundation for planning the immediate and initial phases of a missing person incident. It replaces the older ALSAR Search Controller course.
The course is based on the 6 Step Process which is a popular framework for managing search operations and involves classroom time spent learning and undertaking a variety of tabletop exercises to simulate missing person emergencies, all based mainly upon real life incidents from the teams 32 years of operations.
Candidates from ALSAR teams should ideally have good experience of operational searches. The course is also suitable for operational Police Officers who would have responsibility for managing the immediate and initial stages of a missing person search.
The course is based at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre and is taught by Kris Manning and a team of highly experienced Search Planners and Managers.
ALSAR Teams: The course costs £55 which is payable in advance.
Non ALSAR: The course costs £150 which is payable in advance.
The course has residential options for those who require it (please contact us about this) but does not include catering. You will need to bring your own food but you can also partake of the many excellent fast food establishments that surround the Bracknell/Wokingham area.
Kris Manning (Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue) is one of the most experienced Lowland Search Managers in the UK and has been a member of the team for over 27 years managing hundreds of searches. He has developed and delivered many courses during his time in SAR, including this Search Planning course.
Kris wrote the original Basic Search Techniques and Team Leaders courses in 1995, both have been highly developed and are widely in use today.
He has also taught SAR on the MR Bangor Course and for UKLSI, lectured at the Police National Search Centre (Chatham) and regularly presents on SAR matters nationally in his role as the ALSAR Chairman.
