Online communities are becoming more powerful and increasingly important to businesses when it comes to engaging with content, spreading a message or building a brand. Now more than ever the people who are on the frontline building and managing online communities need to know the best ways to engage with potential customers and users to reap the best rewards.
Led by Guardian community coordinator Hannah Waldram, this practical course covers everything you need to know to establish and maintain strong communities using Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and more, how to source effective UGC from your community, how to start and manage online conversations and how to spread the word using Facebook pages and groups.
No previous experience of community management is necessary, although a basic understanding of how to post messages using social media is required.

Hannah Waldram is a community coordinator at the Guardian where she has worked building communities for three years. She previously set up the hyperlocal blog BournvilleVillage.com and worked with Podnosh teaching people how to use social media to connect in workshops called Social Media Surgeries.
