Mindfulness is a simple yet powerful approach to working with the mind and body that can help us live our lives more fully and manage the range of life’s challenges more effectively. Through paying attention to thoughts, feelings and body sensations, mindfulness brings clarity, enables wise decision-making and enhances our enjoyment of living.
Rooted in ancient traditions of meditation, mindfulness has become the subject of increasing scientific attention in recent years and has been shown to be helpful for a wide range of physical and mental health difficulties and for general wellbeing.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction will lead you through the key principles of living mindfully, and introduce practices to help you cultivate mindfulness in daily life.
In the course you will learn:
- to stay in touch with the present moment and be less caught up in negative or stressful thinking patterns
- to bring a non-judgemental and accepting attitude to yourself and your experiences
- to develop more awareness and understanding of stress and helpful ways of responding to it
- to use simple meditation techniques which can transform daily life, including sitting meditation, body scan and mindful movement
You will also be invited to develop your own practice through weekly homework (about 45 mins a day). We will provide course materials and CDs for you to do this.
The course is open to anyone – however, applicants will be asked to fill in a brief questionnaire and have a phone orientation before their place is confirmed.
The hours are spread over nine sessions as per the schedule below:

plus Sunday 20th November 2016 9.30am – 4.30pm
Course Tutor: Mark Head BSc Hons., MSc (TA Psychotherapy), CTA(P), UKCP Reg. TSTA(P) -Mark is a co-founder of the Link Centre and is an experienced and qualified UKCP registered psychotherapist. He is also a qualified TA trainer and supervisor. With a keen interest in the use and application of mindfulness and mindfulness practices, over the last few years Mark has developed his own mindfulness practice, through both attending courses, retreats and his own personal practice. This has culminated in him training as a mindfulness facilitator. He is particularly interested in how mindfulness can be used alongside other therapeutic approaches, to enhance the provision of counselling and psychotherapy.
A Link Centre Certificate will be available for those who attend this course.
