London, United Kingdom
a seminar with Rt. Hon Jack Straw MP
26th August 2009
This seminar will discuss how we can move forward House of Lords reform over the next year, following the publication of the Government’s White Paper. It will focus on the barriers and unresolved questions surrounding this area (for example proportion of the chamber to be elected, what voting system should be used, what would happen to the Bishops and Hereditary/Life peers) and discuss ideas and possible solutions.
The seminar will be interactive with a large proportion of time set aside for questioning from the floor. The Secretary of State will be briefly interviewed and his responses will then be analysed by an expert panel. Questions from the audience to the Secretary of State and the panel will then be discussed.

Dr Meg Russell – UCL Constitution Unit
The seminar is on Wednesday 26 August at 11.30am in the
