Enjoy all the behind-the-scenes access of the music writer – and face all the pressures. This intensive one-day masterclass gives ten people a unique and exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in every skill a music journalist needs at London's finest festival. The Guardian's online music editor, Tim Jonze, and Guardian writer Eddy Lawrence will show you how to cover a major event for both online and print. You'll interview a headline act, review bands and generate vox pops with fans, while working to tight deadlines in a tough environment.
At Guardian Masterclasses basecamp in the VIP enclosure, you'll receive group and one-to-one tutorials before tackling your individual brief. The course also offers the chance to become a published writer – the best work will appear on the new Masterclasses Masterpieces page on the Guardian website.
For a supplementary fee, you'll also receive invaluable advice in a separate three-hour feedback session. Your finished copy will be forensically dissected to show what went right, ways to polish your copy and how to hone your skills for the future.
This masterclass is in association with Field Day festival. Field Day will be returning to Victoria Park on Saturday 25th May, combining a pioneering line-up and a village fete mentality, all in the heart of East London. The line-up includes Animal Collective, Bat For Lashes, Parma Violets, Stubborn Heart and Tim Burgess. Visit www.fielddayfestivals.com
