Description

Does the idea of knitting a whole jumper seem a bit daunting? Let us break it down for you and take you through it step by step. The workshop will cover working out your materials, picking which size to make, the importance of swatching, types of jumpers and sweater styles, and reading a pattern.

Taught by Gwen Wagner-Adair, workshop tutor and knitwear designer from Petitchoufleur Knits, this workshop will cover techniques for both seamed jumpers and jumpers knitted in the round. You'll get to pick one style to knit a mini jumper during the workshop to practice the techniques.

FAQs
Where is the event held?

All workshops start at our shop, but we will be using a lovely room above Salvo’s Salumeria nearby to deliver the course. Please could you arrive at baa ram ewe 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of your workshop, to give us time to get everyone organised.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Headingley has a frequent bus service from Leeds city centre - catch the 6, 28 or 97 from Leeds bus station or the number 1 from Infirmary Street near the railway station. Ask for Headingley Arndale Centre.
Headingley rail station is about 1 mile (20 minutes walk) from the shop.
Parking in Headingley can be tricky. There is a pay and display car park close to the shop - coming from Leeds, go past the shop and turn left at the traffic lights into St Anne’s Road, the entrance to the car park is on the left. There are some streets nearby with free parking but you will need to avoid the residents only parking zones.

Is there disabled access?

Our workshop room is up a flight of stairs, with facilities on that level. We need to know in advance if you have a problem with stairs. We will always try to be flexible and to accommodate your needs if we can, so give us as much notice as possible and we will try to make arrangements.

What do I need to bring to the event?

Students need to bring 4mm needles (straight or circular is fine) and a knitted tension swatch. We will provide you with instructions to make your swatch.

We will provide you with one ball of DK to use during the workshop.

What skill level is this workshop?

To make the most of this workshop you should be able to do the following before you start:
Cast on and cast off
Knit and purl.
(If you haven't mastered these yet, please book yourself on one of our 1 day Learn to Knit Workshops first)

What about lunch and refreshments?

A wonderful Italian coffee when you arrive is included in the workshop fee. Lunch (not included in the workshop fee) can be ordered from Salvo's who have put together a lovely menu for us, or you can bring your own or pop out for a breath of fresh air.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Yes you can transfer your ticket, but you need to re-register- details on how to do this are here.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes please!

What is the refund policy?

We offer a full refund on places up to 2 weeks before the workshop. If you're unable to make the event at the last minute, you can easily transfer to a different date. Details of how to do that are here.
