Event Details

The second in a series of one day Saturday workshops  designed for those with a prior acquaintance with Jungian typology as interpreted by Briggs & Myers with the MBTI®

It follows on from the introductory day held at The Link Centre in October 2009. Attendance at that workshop is not a pre-requisite for booking on any or all of the masterclasses; you just need to be familiar with your own profile, willing to share that with other attendees, and acquainted with the basic theory of type.

All workshops have an experiential format.

The Inferior Function - Friend or Foe?

Stress, burnout, post traumatic growth, and paths to individuation

The focus of this day will be on understanding and working with the least preferred function (S or N, T or F), commonly termed "the inferior "   Our fourth and least preferred mode of functioning directly affects how we respond to pressure, and what happens when stressors reach a level intolerable to the individual.

Burnout is one possible outcome, but (according to some researchers) is not the same as Stress. And can we use distressing experiences to further our growth and development?  This workshop will suggest we can.

Understanding the difference between stress and burnout, and knowing what to do to prevent either outcome becoming a disaster, will be useful to anyone interested in developing their personal and professional abilities.

The Jungian concept of "the Shadow personality", or the unilluminated aspects of the psyche, can

be more easily understood and utilised when we know more about our own inferior preference functioning, although the terms are not strictly speaking synonymous.   Working consciously with our 'inferior' can be an aid to Individuation.    Ignoring it can be a definite hindrance!

The workshop will be led by Joanne Garner PTSTA(P), MSc, MCIPD. Joanne is principal of Coaching and Counselling Consultancy, and a Registered Practitioner with MBTI® for over twenty years. She is highly experienced in using the  MBTI®,  and applying it in the different settings of organisations, private practice and personal life.
