Please note this class is most suitable for writers who have an idea for a work of fiction or narrative non-fiction, or have already started writing a book – it’s not ideal for beginners

Course preparation

• Before the class, you’re encouraged to take some time to think about your desired project – whether it’s a novel or a work of longform narrative non-fiction
• You should arrive at the class with an idea for the longform work you want to write – this could be anything from a concept for your novel, to a storyline or an idea for a character

Tutor profile

Dr Kathryn Heyman is the author of six novels including Floodline. Her new novel, inspired by free-diver Audrey Mestre, will be published in 2016. Kathryn’s books have been longlisted for the Orange Prize, and shortlisted for the Scottish Writer of the Year Award, among others. She has many years’ experience as a writing tutor, having taught creative writing for the University of Oxford, the Arvon Foundation and Faber Academy in Australia. Find out more on her website.
