No decision about me without me?
Listening to children and young people in the health service
A policy and research seminar
A central pillar of the government’s reforms for the NHS and public health service is its commitment to give patients and the public a stronger voices in decisions about health services and individual’s care. However, we know that the level and quality of children and young people’s involvement in health decision-making varies considerably across services and across the country.
This free seminar will be an opportunity to explore how we can work together to ensure the NHS and public health services listen to and act upon the views and experiences of children and young people. The seminar is aimed at policy makers, local health and children’s services leaders and officers and the children’s charity sector.
The seminar will be chaired by Barbara Hearn OBE, Deputy Chief Executive of NCB and member of the Children and Young People’s Health Outcomes Forum.
Paul Streets, Director of Patient and Public Engagement and Experience, Department of Health
Dr Nicola Gray, Royal College of GPs Adolescent Health Group
Ivana La Valle, Director of Research, NCB
Others to be confirmed
Attendees will hear the key findings from a review of children and young people’s views, commissioned by the Children and Young People’s Health Outcomes Forum, with a particular focus on the views of disadvantaged children or those with complex needs.
Please join the debate and help us ensure that the Government’s ambition for patients to have ‘no decision about me without me’ becomes a reality for children and young people.
