National Science & Engineering Week 2014 Ideas Factory
This event is aimed at people from a range of organisations such as charities, museums, libraries, voluntary and community groups. In particular, it is suitable for those interested in science communication, science outreach, and those interested in organising or taking part in science events in their local area.
This information session will give advice and practical help to anyone who would like to run an event or activity to celebrate science and engineering in their community (with a focus on NSEW 2014, which will take place from 14th-23rd March).
You will be able to network and brainstorm ideas with other event organisers from a diverse range of organisations including charities, universities, museums, local community groups, charities and businesses.
Run in partnership with our Nottinghamshire volunteer branch, you will also discover opportunities to get involved with their popular Science in the Park event. This annual science celebration takes place in the grounds of the picturesque Wollaton Hall during NSEW. There are lots of ways to get involved with Science in the Park. For example,you could run a stand, give a talk or even deliver some fun hands-on science activities.
We will also be joined by OPAL Nature - an exciting initiative which aims to create and inspire a new generation of nature-lovers, and offers great resources to help people explore nature.

You can be part of the millions of people who take part in NSEW events around the UK. Funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, NSEW is the UK’s widest grassroots celebration of science. It provides a platform for a diverse range of organisations to reach out to new and existing audiences with events and activities that communicate the wonders of the sciences and engineering.
Booking requires a £3 deposit, which will be refunded after attending the session.
