By 2050, 70% of people on the planet will live in urban areas. Building cities to support so many people has led to the development of a field known as ‘smart cities’. Smart cities seek new responses to the challenges of urban living. Smart cities are a high priority for urban planners, entrepreneurs and civic activists.
But what makes a city ‘smart’ and how is the concept shaping new business opportunities?
Our practical 1-day course introduces the concept of smart cities in plain english. We also examine the link between smart cities and open data and highlight future opportunities.
