Event Details

OWASP Birmingham is back once againt for our October meeting.

We have two talks this month being delivered by two of KPMGs crack pen testers, stay tuned for more details.

As usual there will be beer and pizza thanks to our Sponsors Hedgehod Security and Pentest Partners!

Talk “modern password cracking”
 
Bio - When I don’t crack passwords I sleep.  :) 

Yiannis has been in the information security field for about 6 years now. Prior to joining KPMG, he was an Ethical Hacking Instructor and a Project Manager for various infrastructure projects.

He is an active member of Team Hashcat. Winner of Crack-me-if-you-can competition at Defcon (2nd place in 2013,1st place in 2012, 2nd place in 2011 and 1st place in 2010), Winner of Positive Hackdays / Hashrunner (1st place 2012). 

Yiannis is the recipient of SearchSecurity.co.uk Thesis Award 2013 for his MSc thesis titled “Modern password cracking: a hands-on approach to creating an optimised and versatile attack”, also featured in Ars technica article (http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/08/thereisnofatebutwhatwemake-turbo-charged-cracking-comes-to-long-passwords/).

Bio - My bio:
“Before a life in the dark shady world of cyber security Anthony lived in the middle of a roundabout in Slough foraging for food and scaring the locals, he.....” – hang on wrong bio!
 
Real bio:
Anthony has over 20 years experience working in industries such as aerospace, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals, designing, developing and supporting their core products and systems.  Prior to joining KPMG he was Chief Architect for a software company which produced an Internet based anti-counterfeiting system for pharmaceuticals.  He is a CISSP and is also a member of the IISP.
