Oxford Gaia House Meditation Retreats, 2016
Oxford Gaia House Retreats offers a programme of day retreats led by teachers associated with Gaia House. The retreats offer an opportunity to explore both sitting and walking meditation practices in a supportive environment. The teachers normally provide guidance through meditation instruction, a dharma talk and a question and answer session.
On the retreat day, please arrive for registration between 9.15 - 9.45am. The retreat finishes around 5pm.
IMPORTANT: for essential information about what to bring, as well as other guidelines about the days, please check our website, www.oxfordgaiahouseretreats.co.uk
Making bookings for the retreats
You can book for a single retreat, or multiple retreats, on this site. There are no "tickets" for the retreats - when booking your place on a retreat, you will simply be asked to fill out your name (and/or the names of any others you are booking for) so that you/they will appear on our bookings list for the day of the retreat.
You don't have to have an account with Eventbrite to register for retreats. However, you may want to create an Eventbrite account if you plan on registering for retreats regularly, since this makes the process quicker for you, and you can log in to your Eventbrite account to view and manage your bookings.
Payment is made through Paypal. Note, however, that you don't need to have, or register for, a Paypal account to make a payment through Paypal.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite until 12 noon on the day before the retreat. After that time, you can try contacting Amy about ticket availability (07817248040).
Reduced-cost, "Concessionary" tickets
We offer "concessionary" tickets (at roughly half price) for people who think the concessionary rate might apply to them. This may, for example, include those who are unemployed, full-time students, retired individuals, or those who are othewise finding it difficult to meet the cost.
To purchase concessionary tickets, click the link "Enter promotional code" on this webpage and enter the code "CONC". The page will update with concessionary pricing.
Note that you cannot purchase full-price and concessionary tickets in the same order on Eventbrite - please make two separate orders if you need to purchase tickets within both categories.
We ask that you consider paying the full rate if you are reasonably able, to support the continuation of the retreats.
Eventbrite booking fees. There is a small charge for online booking to support our online booking system, but as there is no postage cost, the overall increase in cost is small. Online booking fees have increased slightly this year, but have been capped them at £1.20 per ticket. There is no booking fee for online purchase of concessionary tickets, which are £5 each.
Refunds, re-bookings, and cancellations
We offer refunds and re-bookings for each retreat up until 48 hours prior to the retreat (typically 10am on the Thursday before that retreat).
How to request a re-book. You may no longer be able to attend a certain retreat, but are interested in attending on a different retreat day. We are able to accomodate this. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or text 07817248040, indicating the retreat you want to cancel your place on, and the retreat you would like to attend instead.
How to request a refund. If you have an Eventbrite account, and have booked your tickets through that account, you can request a refund (find the Eventbrite "Help" section and search for "Can I get a refund?"). Otherwise please email Amy (email@example.com) with details of your refund request. You can indicate when contacting us by either method if you want to cancel your place on the retreat but do not require a refund.
How refunds work. If you have paid via Paypall within the last 60 days, we are able to transfer the booking fee back to you electronically, minus a small processing charge. If more than 60 days have passed since you have made the booking, there are two options: we can either transfer the booking fee back to your PayPall account (this is assuming that you have one, or are willing to set one up), OR we can send you a cheque in the post, minus a £1 processing charge.
Please do let us know if you cannot make it to a retreat on which you are booked, since our retreats do sometimes end up fully booked, and your place could be used by another attendee.
If a retreat is listed here as fully booked, and you wish to be added to the waiting list for that retreat, please email Amy (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your name and a preferred method of contact, so we can get in touch with you if a place becomes available.
We still accept bookings through the post, paid by postal order or cheque. If you prefer to do this rather than booking online, please go to our main website (link provided below) and download our booking form which contains information on how to do this.
Why couldn't I previously see the autumn retreats (but now I can)? We have found that there are increasing numbers of "no-shows" to the day retreats, where individuals book places on the retreats but do not attend. When our retreats are fully booked, this means that people are sadly denied places which would otherwise have been available to them. To limit numbers of no-shows, we are trialing a system whereby we release the Spring/Summer retreats immediately, but only release the Autumn retreat tickets after May of 2016. Thanks for your understanding whilst we experiment with getting this right!
