Event Details

Come to a public meeting on Wednesday 13th August at St John’s Hall, Mayors Walk, Peterborough PE3 6EZ from 1900 to 2100.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Association of Local Council's representative, Ian Dewar, will be coming to the event.  He will present the arguments for and against setting up a community council in our local area, and to see if there is sufficient interest to begin a consultation process with the City Council and local residents.

If you live in the West and Ravensthorpe wards of Peterborough, or the localities of Thorpe Gate, West Town, Westwood, Ravensthorpe, Netherton and Longthorpe, you would be most welcome to this public meeting

Peterborough Take Note Community Choir

Peterborough Take Note is a mixed voice community choir in the City, formed in January 2014.

The Choir is looking forward to another year of exciting opportunities in 2015, including a performance at The Cresset of Faure's Requiem in May, and to round off the season, we will be going to Abbey Road Studios in London to record music with one of the best music producers in the UK.

We are still recruiting members and would welcome new singers, so if you would like to join a group that will be performing a choral piece with a full orchestra and then recording music in the same studio used by the Beatles, you are very welcome to join.  We have no auditions and & ensure equality of access for anyone regardless of background or circumstances.

We are delighted to be supported by the Community Learning Trust, who have provided funds to assist us in developing a choir that can provide an excellent place for a beginner to learn the basics of choral music, to more experienced singers who can enjoy refining their technique as well as helping new singers to develop and improve their choral singing.  The generous funding and support from City College Peterborough has enabled us to provide our members with opportunities to be taught by, and work with top singing professionals.

We support a group of adults with learning difficulties to create their own choir and we also have set up the "Take Note Consort Singers", a small ensemble of our more experienced singers to give opportunities to learn and sing technically challenging works.

The choir meets every Wednesday evening from 7pm for rehearsals, and also runs monthly singing workshops on Saturdays during the day.

 Our objectives are:

1. To secure professional musical direction and accompaniment

so that musical education is of high quality.

2. To promote inclusion, healthy lifestyles and community cohesion.

3. To use profits for charitable purposes.

We run the choir on democratic principles, so everyone has a say in what we sing and what we do.  If you are interested in joining the choir, email us at peterboroughtakenote@mail.com or ring Jan for a chat on 07763 061835
