PLAN C - Local Hub no. 14 - Falkirk
Tuesday, 19 August 2014; ends at 19:00 (BST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
What is PLAN C
Professional Learning and Networking in Computing is a sustained programme of professional learning available to Computing teachers in Scotland.
PLAN C Local Hubs
The emphasis of taking part in a PLAN C local hub is on working together with lead teachers in your area to help develop long lasting Computational Thinking skills in your pupils using more effective and engaging pedagogies rather than just learning about a specific technology. The focus of the local hubs will be on the teaching of National 4 to Higher level CS concepts and all example activities are designed for these qualification levels.
Benefits of Taking Part
- Certification by the BCS Academy of Computing for if you attend over 75% of the local hub sessions. This can also be used as evidence to meet GTCS professional update requirements starting in August 2014.
- Development of a much deeper understanding of what makes some Computing concepts difficult for novices to understand based on the most up to date research in this area and crucially what we can do to improve the situation.
- Being part of a tightly knit community that is able to discuss and continue to develop effective pedagogy for teaching Computing concepts with access to a rich set of links in HE, FE and industry.
- Access to a range of editable example N4, 5 and Higher Computing Science activities that you can adapt for use in your own classroom.
PLAN C is funded by the Scottish Government, administered by the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and delivered by Computing At School Scotland.
