POSTPONED Social Enterprise Weekend (South) hosted by Barclays
Friday, February 22, 2013 at 7:00 PM - Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 7:00 PM (GMT)
London, United Kingdom
Barclays is really pleased to be hosting a weekend for technology entrepreneurs and creative designers to work together on innovative solutions.
It will be held at Central Working, which is a collaborative workspace supported by Barclays for technology entrepreneurs in the heart of Tech City.
For one weekend we are opening our doors for Social Enterprise Weekend.
The weekend will be your opportunity to form a team with people who want to do something positive for the communities in which we live and work.
The focus of the Social Enterprise Weekend event is on building tools to help young people manage and take control of their financial situation. The challenge is to build apps that focus on ‘personal financial management’ and ‘education and awareness of banking’.
If you have an idea for creating an app around these themes then this event is for you!
If you simply want to be part of developing a new application, platform or product at pace with other creative and energised people, then we will team you up with others. What more do you need to get involved?
Event Prize Details
Our judging panel will pick winners from the presentations made by each of the participating teams on the Sunday.
1st Prize team - Will receive 20 hours post-event technical support of your choice from Barclays technical teams. The 1st placed team will be asked to select a charity* who will receive 75% of the Social Enterprise Weekend registration fees taken for this venue.
2nd Prize team - Will receive 10 hours post-event technical support of your choice from Barclays technical teams. The 2nd placed team will be asked to select a charity* who will receive 25% of the Social Enterprise Weekend registration fees taken for this venue.
In addition, each team will have access to at least one follow up meeting with our technology experts that have been involved in the design, development or marketing of our mobile applications.
Central Working is a fantastic work space, based in the heart of Tech City (First Floor, 6-8 Bonhill Street, EC2A 4BX), 5 minutes walk from Old Street Underground Station.
All your meals and refreshments during the weekend will be provided.
Technology experts will be on hand to show their support and guidance on how your ideas could be developed, as well as judge the winning teams. The Judging Panel will be confirmed soon.
To secure commitment to the event participants will be asked to pay just £10. All of the money raised will go to charity – chosen by the winning team(s) taking part in the weekend – just in case you needed another incentive to get involved!
Payment for the event can be made directly through Pingit on your smartphone using the payment short code BSocial - remember you don’t need to bank with Barclays to download and use Pingit for free). If you pay via Pingit instead of by credit card, the full face value of the ticket will go to charity.
Without quoting a cliché, places are limited to allow those that do take part to enjoy the best of the experience we have planned.
