Coaching skills are an essential part of each leader and manager’s skill set and enable them to have clear conversations related to performance and development. Coaching skills are fundamental to driving high performance through developing accountability and responsibility in individuals and teams.
Manager as Coach training focuses on developing the skills and mind set of a coach while working as a Manager or Leader. We will look at the complexity of the leader and managers role, different mindsets, assumptions and behaviours before explore the principles and practice of coaching. Participants will develop confidence in using their coaching and questioning skills within their role as to raise awareness and build responsibility in staff for their own performance.
Objectives
- To consider your role as a leader and manager and your responsibility when coaching and mentoring individuals and teams for performance.
- To exploring the benefits of coaching and mentoring as an approach to develop, motivate, challenge and support individuals and teams.
- To reflect on the principles of coaching and the skills of a coach (questioning, listening and feedback).
- To understand a model of coaching specifically geared towards Leaders and Managers (OSCAR).
- To practice coaching others and observe coaching practice (experiential learning)
- To plan to use coaching approaches to develop self driven employees and to embed and develop the culture in Rocket X.
Post Session Application
Reflective Log and Self Assessment including completion of 2 OSCAR formal coaching discussions.
Optional Support
Delivery of surgery sessions to explore application or ongoing CPD to embed practice.
