Description

The Scottish Public Law Group presents an event on remedies in administrative law, discussing methods of redress from within and outwith the court system. Speakers include Jim Martin, who has served as the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman since 2007, Ailsa Carmichael QC, who appears regularly in the Court of Session and the Supreme Court for and against public authorities, and David Sheldon QC, a former standing junior to the Scottish Ministers with a mixed practice including public law and reparation. Topics to be addressed will be the remedies the court can grant in judicial review proceedings, recovery of damages in private law proceedings for breaches of statutory duty, and the role of the SPSO in securing administrative justice.

Registration is from 4.30pm. Teas and coffees will be available beforehand and there will be an informal drinks reception after.
