Putting together a Museum Display from concept to delivery

A fun and practical day to help you create effective displays which are safe for your collection.
What will you learn?
- what you need to consider when developing an exhibition and how to plan for successful delivery
- how to write engaging and readable copy
- what materials can be safely used in displays and appropriate methods of mounting and supporting objects
- how to work with designers
- how to promote and evaluate the show
Who should attend?
Volunteers and paid staff who create displays with any sort of museum collection who would like to improve their skills and learn new techniques.

Vicky Dawson is a freelance museum curator who has developed and managed the delivery of exhibitions of all shapes and sizes – from single case temporary shows to the creation of new museums. Most recently she has developed and written the script for several major touring exhibitions in the South West.
Helena Jaeschke is an accredited conservator and the Conservation Development Officer supporting museums across the southwest with their collection care needs, including finding ways to display difficult or fragile objects safely.
The South West Museum Skills programme is delivered by the South West Federation on behalf of the South West Museum Development Partnership, funded by Arts Council England.
