Raising Steam is a 2 day Steampunk music festival being held in Reading on 21st and 22nd September, 2013, raising funds for New Futures Nepal.
On Saturday 21st September it is being held at the Curzon Club in Oxford Road, Reading RG30 1AQ (next to the large Tesco). It is about a 20 minute walk from the town centre, or a no 17 bus ride away. Parking in that end of Oxford Road is not good. Parking is available at the Chatham Street car park (opposite the site for Sunday’s festival), and it is about a 10 minute walk from there to the venue. The venue has a full bar and will be serving food during the event.
Doors open to the public from 4pm, and there will be 6 bands between 5 and midnight, when the venue closes.
Playing on the Saturday will be: Miss Von Trapp; Thy Last Drop; The Mysterious Freakshow; Crimson Clocks; Tom Slatter; and Metropolis will be headlining.
On Sunday 22nd September it is being held at the Irish Centre in Chatham Street, Reading RG1 7HT. The venue has a full bar and will be serving food during the event. There is a car park (Q-Park Chatham Place) opposite the venue. For 8 hours, the cost is about £11.
Doors open to the public from 4pm, and there will be 5 bands between 5 and midnight, when the venue closes.
Playing on the Sunday will be: Helicopter Quartet; montague jacques fromage/ STEAMPUNKFUNK BIZARRE; Birthrite; Gladstone; and The Mechanisms will be headlining.
