Design Network North’s latest ‘Rise & Design’ meeting aims to provide an insight into materials for product design, helping you to get the right material for your product.
The speakers include:
QTC – the touch sensitive plastic
David Lussey, Peratech
QTC is a unique material, invented in the North East, which can be an insulator or an electrical conductor, simply through the application of pressure. It is used in control panels on smart clothing, variable switches in games, respiratory sensors in medical applications, and is used by NASA to give touch sensitive skin to robot hands. David, one of the inventors of the material will give a fascinating account of it’s many uses and future applications.
You will also be more than welcome to get involved in a ‘Question and Answer’ session with the speakers.
As part of this meeting, there will be an opportunity for you to discuss ideas or issues with other companies about how it could make a difference to your business as well as a brief insight into Design Network North’s activities.
After the meeting, please stay around for tea and coffee as a number of Design Network North members will be exhibiting their products and services. This will give you an opportunity to meet them and discuss any requirements or issues you may have with other Design Network North members and Design Network North.
There are 8 places available for companies to exhibit their product or service. There is no charge to exhibit and includes a small pop-up stand and table for promotional products or materials. If you would like to exhibit please register online but places are on a first come first served basis.
There two pitches available if you are interested presenting as part of the ‘two minute pitch’ with either a problem/issue, feedback or would like to introduce yourself to the network. If you are interested please email email@example.com
Please contact Becky Strong if you have any queries on 0191 516 4400 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
About Rise & Design
Design Network North members meet on the second Friday of each month to share good practice, learn from experts and to collaborate on issues, projects and needs.
Each meeting has a specific theme and will feature presentations from experts in the field. You will also be able to discuss with other companies how applying these ideas could make a difference to your business.
This is also a great opportunity to raise any ideas or issues that you would like to see feature in future Design Network North activities.
When & Where
Design Network North
Design Network North supports innovative companies, helping them to utilise high quality design skills and processes.
We accomplish this by offering specialised product design, industrial design and new product development support.
Good design is the key to future competitiveness. At a time when product quality standards are universally high and costs have been driven relentlessly downward, design and improved functionality have become the most important factors in the marketplace.
Intended to enhance regional companies’ ability to employ high-quality design, skills and processes, Design Network North works closely with other regional, national and international design projects, and helps those without access to the relevant design skills, achieve their aspirations for growth. Design Network North also holds regular networking events, 'Rise & Design', and delivers onsite Design Performance Workshops to embed good design within your business.
The Northern Design Centre will form a regional focal point for use of design by North East England’s businesses and service providers. Throughout each year, the design centre will feature work not just from local product designers but examples from all areas of design.
Funded by Gateshead Council and the European Regional Development Fund, the network is co-ordinated by RTC North Ltd in Sunderland.
