The Rugby Business Network is the world's largest business networking community where business people with a passion for rugby can help each other in business and in life both online and face to face at events all around the World.
Join us for the first ever Rugby Business Network to be held in Bath on Tuesday the 3rd of September at Jika Jika - the city centre based café owned by England and British Lions Rugby stars Lee Mears and Matt Stevens. The event will be a chance to network just ahead of the start of the new Premiership season with business people from the south-west who share a passion for the sport and to take part in a question and answer session with three Bath Rugby stars of past and present. A charity raffle and draw will also be held with proceeds going towards the Bath Rugby Foundation.
The Q&A panel:
Full-back Nick Abendanon burst onto the scene during the 2006-07 season, scoring 10 tries in 24 first-team appearances for Bath Rugby and now holds the club’s record number of first team full back appearances. Nick earned his first England cap in South Africa – the country of his birth – in June 2007.
Nick has a keen interest in the business world alongside his rugby career and has just completed the second year of his degree in Leadership and Management. He has also just set up PTLSports, a company aimed at providing sporting gap years to school leavers.
Lee Mears was a hugely successful hooker for England and Bath who retired from the game in 2013. Lee has a range of business, media and coaching interests including jointly running JikaJika together with Matt Stevens, now at Saracens Rugby.
Lee spent 16 years at The Rec, making 268 appearances, and has been capped 42 times for his country. He was selected for the 2007 World Cup and also played in the 2009 Lions tour of South Africa and made the XV for the first Test in Durban.
Richard is a qualified lawyer and former player, having played for Bath, Newport and Leeds during his career. During his time at Newport, Richard also served as a Player Representative on the Board of the Welsh Rugby Players Association. Richard formerly practised at Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office. He has also advised the RPA on legal issues during his time at Clarke Willmott.
Richard delivers the Player Development Programme to players at Bath Rugby and London Irish.
