Safe Online Sessions Calderdale
Thursday, 20 October 2016 from 08:00 to 16:00 (BST)
FREE 'ASSEMBLY' SESSIONS FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS & GROUPS
A new assembly has been designed by the Peace Museum to explore the dangers posed by online grooming and radicalisation.
The assembly will:
- Build awareness around strategies used by perpetrators
- Raise understanding of techniques used to radicalise young people
- Reduce vulnerability to manipulative content
- Recognise the signs of someone who may be succumbing to grooming
- Give practical guidance on what to do if presented by malicious content
- Signpost further support for those who may need it
Using real life case studies, the session will explore how seemingly innocent online relationships can be a cover for more sinister motives through a range of media including Facebook, online gaming, texting and dating apps.
Delivered in your school or group context by an experienced facilitator, the session can be delivered to entire year groups or smaller groups. Sessions last between 60 & 90 mins (flexible depending on your time constraints)
Safe Online has been developed in parternship with the Calderdale Prevent Team.
The Peace Museum has delivered Prevent work to thousands of young people, supporting schools, families and communities to work togther to protect young people from harm.
