Event Details

Reflect, learn and share best practice on your experience of safeguarding. The workshop aims to ensure that the learning from the first 'Safeguarding & Protecting Children' workshop is consolidated and updated. You’ll have the opportunity to share best practice and learn from each other’s experiences to help you create a positive, child-centred sporting environment. Only those who have attended the first “Safeguarding and Protecting Children” workshop are eligible to attend this workshop.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • actively promote a positive and child-centred coaching environment using key principles of relevant codes of conduct/practice
  • demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current national legislation relevant to their role
  • recognise, respond to and make informed decisions about safeguarding children
  • consider a seven-step approach to assist with decision making
  • respond appropriately to a disclosure or a concern

This workshop is a Minimum Standard for Deployment requirement for many governing bodies of sport. The Minimum Standards for Deployment are seen as the basic standard every coach needs to meet to carry out their role safely and effectively. Attend this session within three years of completing “Safeguarding and Protecting Children” and you’ll satisfy the basic safeguarding children awareness training requirements of the UKCC and Clubmark.

Organiser

Herts Sports Partnership

Herts Sports Partnership was established in 2003 as one of 49 County Sport Partnerships in England, as part of the long-term plan for delivering sport across the nation. It is led by a voluntary representative executive board and has a core team of full and part-time sports professionals all of whom are passionate about the work carried out by the Partnership.

We run a full programme of workshops for entry level coaches and for clubs working towards Clubmark (or equivalent) accreditation. In addition, we intermittently run a range of other workshops. Dates for these are announced on the full list of workshops.
