Event Details

The Ultimate Ashes experience with Glenn McGrath, Mike Selvey and Vic Marks

Join Selve and Vic, together with very special guest, the great Glenn McGrath, before the Lord's Test at a sumptuous venue to chew over Ashes series both home and away. This entertaining evening offers comment, anecdote and analysis on the fiercest rivalry in cricket, and the promise of a lively Q&A session to round things off.

Drawing on their wealth of Ashes experience as players and journalists, the trio offer expert takes on this year’s back-to-back series, covering everything from Kevin Pietersen’s knee to the trouble with Australia’s selectors. They’ll also take you behind the scenes of their own riotous touring experiences and give their sometimes surprising verdicts on England’s chances of making it three in a row. Cricket fans won’t want to miss this!

Speakers

Glenn McGrath is an Australian international cricket legend. He holds the world records for the highest number of Test wickets taken by a fast bowler and the overall highest number of wickets in the Cricket World Cup. He was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in January 2013 and is remains involved in the game as a cricket commentator for Australia’s Channel Nine.

Mike Selvey has been Chief Cricket Correspondent of The Guardian for 26 years. Between 1968 and 1984 he played cricket for Surrey, Middlesex and Glamorgan as well as three times for England,  famously dismissing Roy Fredericks, Viv Richards and Alvin Kallicharran with his first 20 balls in his maiden Test against the West Indies in 1976.

Vic Marks played cricket for Oxford University, Somerset, West Australia and England (6 Tests and 34 one-day internationals) between 1974 and 1989. Since retiring from professional cricket he has been the Cricket Correspondent of the Observer; more recently he has appeared regularly in the Guardian, writing mostly about cricket, though occasionally on rugby and diving. He retains his links with Somerset, where he is Chairman of Cricket.
