Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund advice and networking (Gateshead), brought to you by Sky Arts and IdeasTap. 

Hear from leading industry professionals and get an inside view on how you could secure £30,000 funding to support your creative practice for a year.

 

GATESHEAD SESSION

20 November, BALTIC, 2pm - 4.30pm

The event will be hosted by Amanda White from IdeasTap. 


The session will provide advice on building your creative career, help with the Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund application process and a chance to meet other like-minded creatives. You’ll also have the opportunity to put your questions to the Futures Fund ambassadors, who are successful artists in their own right.

By attending these sessions, you can find out first hand what the judges of the Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund are looking for. Godfrey Worsdale is a Futures Fund ambassador and will be judging the shortlist as well as selecting the longlist for applications submitted in the Visual Arts category.

2.00 – 2.30 Introductions and overview of the Fund with Sky Arts and IdeasTap representatives

2.30 – 3.30 Q&A with Futures Fund ambassadors and current Futures Fund winner 

3.30 – 4.30 In depth application guidance

4.30 - 5.30 Networking/drinks (optional)

  

Who the class is for?

The Futures Fund advice sessions are suitable for anyone who has applied or wants to apply for the £30,000 Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund bursary. In the next round, the funding will be awarded to five individual creative artists between 18 and 30 years of age.

What you will gain?

The Futures Fund advice session will give you practical tips on how to make your application the best it possibly can be, first-hand advice on building a career in the arts, the chance to meet and network with fellow creatives and the chance to put your questions to the experts.

Please make sure you arrive 10 minutes before the session begins.

IdeasTap is a not-for-profit organisation that funds, connects and nurtures new creative talent. It was launched in December 2008 as the arts platform of The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust. The membership currently stands at more than 125,000 young creative practitioners and the charity is partnered with a range of leading arts organisations including the National Youth Theatre, National Student Drama Festival, mac birmingham, British Film Institute, Sky Arts, Roundhouse, Bush Theatre and Magnum Photos.

The website provides a platform for young creative people to connect, showcase their work and skills, find jobs, and promote events and exhibitions, as well as access unique industry-led opportunities. Partners work with IdeasTap to develop and provide unique industry opportunities – from creative assignments in Dubai, New York and Shanghai to creating an online drama and performing on The Old Vic stage.
