Event Details

You are invited to join us to celebrate the launch of three books from members of our Culture, Imagination & Practice and Ethnography, Culture and Interpretive Analysis Research Groups here at the School of Social Sciences

Home, Materiality, Memory and Belonging: Keeping Culture
Rachel Hurdley

The Gene, the Clinic, and the Family: Diagnosing Dysmorphology, Reviving Medical Dominance
Joanna Latimer

Urban Rhythms: Mobilities, Space and Interaction in the Contemporary City
Robin Smith

The themes that the books address are culture, identity, and power in relation to space and materiality, knowledge and mundane practices. The scope of the projects include homes, mantelpieces, families, children, genetic science, medicine, cities and other urban spaces.

We are delighted to welcome Professor David Inglis (University of Exeter) and Professor David Morgan (University of Manchester) to talk about the importance of a focus on culture for sociology

Please join us on Tuesday August 6th at 12.00pm to hear from each of the authors

A champagne reception will follow the launch
