SQL for Beginners — in collaboration with Wrangler.io

14 November – 21 November
2 Sessions

This class introduces students to SQL queries for data gathering, data analysis and report building. It covers enough query syntax to get students started on querying a database and performing common data analysis for a variety of purposes, from reporting to complex data manipulations. Using Wrangler.io as a platform for running the SQL, students plug in their own own databases, use their own data, and follow the class using data that’s meaningful to them.

Target Audience:

  • Beginners to SQL, students having had very little or no experience at using SQL. An interest in databases!
  • Students who want to streamline to a more productive way of data gathering, analysis and reporting by utilising a database.
  • None developers wishing to manipulate data or generate reports whom usually rely on developers to provide them with information.
  • Developers wishing to begin with SQL or understand SQL produced by many development frameworks.

  • Understand basic SQL that can be applied to their own data within their databases.
  • Write basic SQL queries to filter, aggregate and summarise data.
  • Understand where to begin when asking questions about their data.
  • Receive a free trial of Wrangler.io to use with your own database.
  • Read and understand SQL documentation in-order to progress abilities beyond the basics by trying out more advanced query techniques.
