Title: Compliance & The DBA
Abstract: With data systems getting larger and more data, both business & personal, being stored compliance is becoming serious concern and overhead for many businesses. In this session we will look at just what compliance is, focusing on the UK Data Protection Act, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard & Sarbanes-Oxley which are the big three of the compliance world. Covering at a high level, what they are, why they exist and the types of things that they require. Then I will cover a number of techniquies and options for SQL Server to help you meet these requirements. The outcome of this will be that you can look at your systems in a new light when it comes to design and maintenance.
Bio: John is a SQL Sever developer & DBA, working with SQL Server since 2007 in a range of environments ranging from defense to manufacturing & retail. All of which have had strignent security requirements for their data systems that include not only regulatory compliance but also availability and recoverability requirements.

Title: Putting it all together with SSDT
Abstract: This session is aimed at Developers and Administrators interested in using SQL Server Data Tools to manage their database development. It will cover the benefits of declarative over procedural development, the techniques involved in importing, modifying, and deploying a SQL Server database with SSDT, and end with an example of integrating database code and unit tests using Microsoft Visual Studio and SSDT.
Bio: Gavin Campbell is a SQL Server Professional with fifteen years' experience of Microsoft SQL Server development and administration across all versions from SQL Server 6.5 to SQL Server 2012, currently working on Data warehouse and Business Intelligence projects using Microsoft technologies. He is also the organiser of the Leicester SQL Server User Group, home of the SQLPASS East Midlands chapter.

Southampton SQL Server user group has been running since 2010, in that time we have had many speakers both local and international present high quality sessions on a range of SQL Server and data platform topics. We aim to deliver high quality training and insight for free to the SQL Server community.
The user group has been run by John Q Martin (Twitter | LinkedIn) & Steph Middleton (Twitter | LinkedIn) for the last three years, in which time we have seen the group grow significatly with members joining and moving on.
