Student-Generated Induction Workshop: A Social Identity Approach

 (A SharedThinking Consultancy Event)

Date: Tuesday 11th October 2016. Venue: SOAS, University of London, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG

About the Workshop

The conventional approach to induction and transition is to use meetings and different media to tell the students the information they need to know. It is also common to address socialisation separately from the provision of course-related information.

In this workshop, you will experience a new social and participative approach to student induction. You will also have the chance to share issues and concerns relating to your induction and transition practice. Student-Generated Induction, developed from doctoral research at the University of Glasgow, has already been applied to induction and transition at different universities and colleges. It has also been introduced for different disciplines and used with groups of up to 300 in a single session. This workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss current practice and experience a participant-led approach to induction based around social psychology. It will be of interest to all those following the coproduction and Student-As-Partner agenda.

We will also be introducing our new 'Social-Identity Mapping System' at this event.
