Event Details

Intrigued by what an earth-sheltered home might look, or feel like, inside? Or wanting an overview of what it is to live sustainably?

Join one of our small group tours, which are led by a resident of the project to give you a personal view on what it’s like to live in this sustainable co-housing project.

This tour includes a guided walk around the site to learn about our food, water and renewable energy systems, a tour of one of the homes, and a presentation on the challenges faced during the build, and subsequent development, of the project.

I and my three friends learned a great deal and we shall remember it always. You are patently achieving your aim to act as a catalyst for change, and we wish you even greater success in the future.

It is ideal for

  • People seeking a more sustainable personal lifestyle
  • Undergraduate students

  • Environmental and energy campaigners
  • Other organisations with an interest in environmental issues. including climate change mitigation and adaptation

Hockerton Housing Project

Hockerton Housing Project (HHP) brings sustainability to life through our inspiring homes and our affordable, low-tech, efficient buildings, energy and water systems.

We are a not-for-profit co-operative which hosts tours and courses for all ages, and provides consultancy services to help others deliver sustainability in their home, community or workplace.

“This housing development represents a truly innovative approach to constructing new homes using sustainable techniques and materials in a way which is building a real community spirit” – Nick Raynsford, then Construction Minister, opening HHP
