Event Details

Up to 3 million women and girls in the UK experience rape, domestic violence, stalking, or other violence each year.

In July 2016, Nottinghamshire Police became the first Force to classify misogyny as a hate crime. International debate and online abuse ensued. In this panel, The University of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Police will debate online misogyny, the shift from online to real-world abuse and the benefits of this policy becoming nationwide.

Professor Louise Mullany, a leading expert in linguistics, will be joined by Sue Fish, Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police, and MPs campaigning for gender equality.
