Description

To support University Mental Health & Wellbeing Day, Staff Wellbeing are encouraging you to 'Take Ten' minutes to stop and think about your own mental health and wellbeing. Taking just a few minutes a day, to think about your wellbeing, can have a positive impact on how you feel.

Expert practicioners will guide you through four zones, with each zone aiming to raise your self-awareness, your understanding of how each area links to your mental health and wellbeing, and also give you some hints and tips on how to incorporate each zone into your life, thereby boosting your wellbeing.

You will take ten* minutes at each of the four zones:

  • Physical zone: Cardiff University Sport will explain how being active can boost your wellbeing and how you can start small but win big.
  • Spiritual zone: Delyth from University Chaplaincy will discuss what spirituality is and how your wellbeing can benefit from it.
  • Eat for wellbeing zone: Annette Dunne, specialist clinical dietician will pass on the secrets of how food is connected to your mood and how you can take advantage of this.
  • Thinking and feeling zone: Hilary Green, Staff Counsellor, will help you understand how your thoughts are linked to how you feel and how some simple skills can boost your self-awareness and put you more in control of your wellbeing.

As part of this event you will be able to take away some further reading and materials to supplement what you learn, including:

  • Information sheets on all of the zones.
  • A list of activities and ideas that combine elements of all four zones.

University Mental Health and Wellbeing Day is an annual event aiming to focus efforts that promote the mental health of people who live and work in Higher Education.

*Please note that while you will spend ten minutes at each of the four zones, we are asking participants to allow approximately 50 minutes to complete the tour. And you are welcome to bring along something to nibble on if you're attending as part of your lunch period.
