Description

Join us for our next Talent Leaders Event on 26 October at the Met Hotel, Leeds.

Talent Management is a bit of an anomaly: what does it really mean and what difference does it make?

Having an idea about the range of things it covers can help, but it can be so broad it is difficult to see where it begins and ends.

It reaches from attracting people and the recruitment activities of getting people into the organisation through to preparing them for roles and tasks.

It covers initial learning and development, then deploying them effectively and efficiently. And the cycle doesn’t stop there.

As staff develop in their roles and develop their own interests and preferences, we may need to keep in touch with what are they aiming for, and how can they meet the needs of the organisation. How can the organisation meet their needs so we don’t lose them to somewhere else? These are the key areas but there are so many more.

Our October workshop moves a step forward from talent awareness and definition – discussed in our July workshop – to looking at Talent Strategy.

Paul Turner, Professor of Management Practice from Leeds Beckett University and respected author on Talent, will be guiding us through the day.

He will help us understand how best to construct a strategy for talent and how to secure the executive-level buy-in that meets your organisational objectives.

Participants will learn how to use Paul’s Talent Strategy Framework, a step-by-step process for working through your own talent strategy.

I look forward to seeing you on the day.

Working in partnership, Yorkshire and the Humber Leadership Academy provide a range of offers to the NHS to create excellent leadership and excellent organisations, transforming systems together.

Our regional offer has been informed by a significant consultation exercise with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders across Yorkshire and the Humber. We asked questions to understand the current and future leadership challenges and what those challenges meant for leadership development. It was clear to us that the region wanted more opportunities to learn and develop together while engaged in real work.

As the Local Leadership Academy (LLA) for the NHS Leadership Academy, we provide access in the region to a suite of high quality core leadership development programmes and tools that aim to professionalise leadership across the NHS, including the Graduate Management Trainee Scheme.

Developed with national and international experts, this offer provides a valuable and consistent leadership development offer that gives individuals the necessary support to be the best leaders they can.
