Course Content/Objectives

- This course will introduce speech recognition tools that can help to support learners in literacy based tasks.

- Tools within Apple, Google and Windows based systems will be demonstrated and evaluated for use in different learning environments.

- TASSCC will introduce recommended tools that have been tried and tested and that provide the best support for our learners in Aberdeen City.

Outcomes sought

- Gain an understanding of how speech recognition tools can support access to learning and participation in literacy work

- Experience a variety of different tools to support literacy,      including Google Voice, Siri on Apple and Dragon Dictate on Windows.

- Identify learners who would benefit from using specific tools.

- Improve the learners’ experience leading to better outcomes and increased attainment.

2.1.2: Know how to use, design and adapt materials for teaching and learning which stimulate, support and challenge all learners.

3.1.2: Communicate appropriately with all learners, and promote competence and confidence in literacy

3.1.4: Identify effectively barriers to learning and respond appropriately, seeking advice in relation to all learners’ needs as required.

3.2.1: Enable learners to make full use of well-chosen resources, including digital technologies to support teaching and learning.
