About TechHub Demo Night
TechHub Demo Night isn't about pitching for funds, it's an opportunity to show the community what you're working on, get some feedback, and see what others are toiling away on.
While some angels and VCs do pop along sometimes, don't feel that it's a formal pitch. (We are looking at a special Investors-oriented event soon). That said, make sure you have a great presentation - communicate with style!
APPLICATIONS FOR DEMOING ARE NOW CLOSED
Our demoers this month are:
Kiitos makes online videos clickable in YouTube and other video platforms. We are building a curated feed of trending videos, where brands can tag their products for users to click on. The products will become instantly interactive across blogs, online stores, youtube.com and connected TVs - wherever the video is.
Locatable is the new, free way to determine where the best place for you to live is based on the factors (e.g. commuting times) that are most important for you. We take a data-driven approach to solving the problem, drawing on multiple data sets and using our algorithms to recommend appropriate areas and display the available properties within them.
PixelPin provides the first level of authentication using pictures rather than passwords that ensures an easy non technical way of securing mobile and web services, that is also natural to use and more secure than current solutions.
One Foot After the Other
Good people have good and bad days, great people have good and great days. The iOS app aims to help people have more good and great days. Ultimately the apps aim is to make more of peoples dreams happen. How does the app do this?
·A user has a pacesetter that creates a consistent benchmark for a day. Some days the pacesetter drags a user forward, sometimes the user drags the pacemaker forward.
·A user can see if they spend their time and effort on their goals and dreams, or in other areas.
·It is a fun, original and a pleasure to use.
Founded in July 2012, StatusCake.com is a UK, London based startup. StatusCake offers webmasters and online businesses the opportunity to monitor and receive alerts on the performance of their websites from a global network of monitoring centres.
Alerts are sent to users when their website experience performance issues, falls below industry expected levels or goes down. These alerts are sent via Skype, Twitter, email, SMS and push notifications for iOS, Android and Blackberry including Boxcar and Pushover. A Chrome plugin is also available for in-browser monitoring.
StatusCake believes monitoring should be available for all website and blog owners, regardless of size and levels of revenue, and offers both free accounts and premium paid-for plans.
PositiveBid is a web-application that enables charitable fundraising events to run silent auctions online, with people browsing the catalogue and bidding for Lots on their own mobile device. The project was conceived at PayPal's CharityHack weekend hackathon last year, won the competition, and has received grant funding from Nesta.
The silent auction application is designed to have a relatively low impact on the main fundraising event, and as bidders are using their own mobile device this means that silent auctions are possible anywhere - during a charity golf day, for example. Please contact us if you would like to run a silent auction before Christmas and we will be pleased to assist you in doing so with the PositiveBid application.
KO-SU is the very innovative mobile learning platform open to everyone and anyone who wants to teach and learn via mobile devices. It can be used by individuals, schools, small businesses and large corporates alike
If you're up for demo-ing just complete the registration form on sign up and we'll contact you if you've got one of our highly prized and limited slots...
NOTE FOR POTENTIAL DEMOERS...
You will have a maximum 3 mins to demo your product (not business) followed by brief Q&A. With 6 other companies demoing you will need to stand out so keep it snappy, info-rich and think about your audience (tech / business). People will want to know what the financial and practical benefits are of your product so make those clear. This is not a pitch for funding but addressing your audience like their opinion counts is more likely to strengthen your pitch and win you admirers!
So pass the details along to anyone you'd love to see demo their product.
And if you'd like to bring a friend, please ask them to register here too so we know how many people are coming.
The format of this event is as follows:
6.30pm Doors, then drinks & networking
8.00pm More drinks & networking
